Artificial intelligence or AI is ever more prevalent in today’s digital age. The opportunities for discovery and innovation grow daily. Learn how you can engage with AI at Durham College’s AI Hub.
The course begins on February 12th from 4 pm to 6 pm and then continues every other week for 5 weeks.
- Actual scheduled dates and times of courses:
- Feb 12 4-6pm
- Feb 26 4-6pm
- Mar 12 4-6pm
- Mar 26 4-6pm
- April 9 – 4-6pm
Student participants selected to take part will attend a 5-part workshop series and cover the following content:
MODULE 1 - Python and NumPy (Machine learning number manipulation library)
- Learn how to develop basic Python code along with using a Python library (NumPy) that is widely used in the industry for machine learning and artificial intelligence. NumPy will be used throughout the duration of the workshop series.
MODULE 2 - Working with Data
- Learn how to work with and manipulate datasets. Datasets are used as a primary source of input for machine learning algorithms. In order for these algorithms to learn and grow over time, understanding and working efficiently with data is paramount.
MODULE 3 - Intro to Machine Learning
- This workshop will help you understand the theoretical concepts behind traditional machine learning including classification, regression, cost, and optimization. This will provide a pathway into the implementation of machine learning algorithms.
MODULE 4 - Working with Machine Learning Algorithms
- Learn to work with a Python library (sklearn) to implement several machine learning algorithms on various datasets.
MODULE 5 - Introduction to Artificial Intelligence
- This workshop is your introduction to artificial intelligence and how it relates to machine learning. You will be introduced to AI concepts being used in the industry and how you can go about learning how to implement this on your own in the future
