An IP strategy is crucial for a company for achieving its business objectives. During this online session we will discuss different types of IP rights including trademarks, copyrights, new media, trade secrets and patents and how they can be used to create an IP strategy and build an IP portfolio.

About Tony Orsi

Tony Orsi is a partner and patent agent with Bereskin & Parr LLP and a member of the firm’s Patent, Electrical & Computer Technology and Industrial Designs practice groups. Tony’s practice focuses on patents in the electrical, biomedical, software, mechanical and cleantech fields with an emphasis on evaluating new technologies, patent searching, patent drafting and IP management strategies. Tony works with startups and entrepreneurs to help them learn about IP, to develop their IP strategy and to build their IP portfolio.

 

About Meghan Dillon
Meghan Dillon is a partner, lawyer and registered trademark agent at Bereskin & Parr LLP.

Meghan's practice focuses on all aspects of brand protection. Her trademark practice includes providing opinions and advice on registrability, filing and prosecuting applications, representing clients before the Trademarks Opposition Board in opposition and expungement proceedings, and assisting clients with the management of their domestic and international trademark portfolios.

Meghan is a member of the Trademark Agent Examination Board and past Chair of the Intellectual Property Institute of Canada's (IPIC) Trademark Agent Training Course Committee. She is also a member of the Editorial Board of the Canadian Intellectual Property Review (CIPR), as well as the Trademark Office Practices Committee through the International Trademarks Association (INTA).

Meghan has experience in negotiating and drafting various types of author agreements from working for several years at a well-known Canadian publishing house. During this time, she also obtained a Certificate in Publishing from Ryerson Polytechnic University.
